Wheelock originally requested plans solely for the renovation of the bathrooms, but Blackstone Block Architects found that a comprehensive building modernization would save the college money. The old bathrooms were located along exterior walls, with windows above each tub. BSBA recommended moving the bathrooms to the interior and using the resulting space for new bedrooms, This plan added 39 beds, and generated revenue for the college to more than offset the cost of the $3.5 million expanded renovation.
